Letter 1/17/2013

Hola Familia! Well so another week has passed and now its just a few more days until the change. It just seems so strange that its almost february and that in just a few weeks ill just have 7 months left. I guess maybe it just barely sunk in that now im one of the "old ones" in the mission. I guess my hope would be to train, but i honestly dont know what will happen because president told me that we would "cross that bridge when when we get there", so who knows. All i know is that he told me he was going to send me to a place that needed to turn around completely or it is going to be closed. Anyways i do have to say its been a lot better week. Ive almost got elder Lucas trained on everything he is going to need to have success as a secretary and lets just hope that theres no problems after i leave here. Also, ive been seeing a lot more miracles now that im finally leaving the area which is great. right now in the mission we have a very low average for finding new investigators now that we cant contact or tract, so i think its like an average of like 3 per companionship. Anyways, this past week we set up an appointment with a family to go talk to their dad who isnt a member, and right before we get to the house, the dad walks out with some friends, and leaves.... So we knock on the door very casualike, (with intentions of setting up another appointment), and when the daughter came to the door we asked if we could have another appointment. She told us she forgot we were coming but if we wanted to we could come talk to everyone in the house there. We insisted saying it would be better another time when her dad was there, and she insisted saying it would be great to have to talk to us. So... We did... We went in and its a decent sized family of like 7, but i kid you not, there were at least 25 people there. All but 5 of them were members, and we proceeded to talk about the plan of salvation and the spirit was very strong. It felt great and they all said they would be coming to church this sunday so we´ll see. But thats not it for this week. We went with a less active mom and her daughter and husband were at her house, both not members and promised to come to church.... another spiritual lesson.... And last night we just knocked on another less actives door who said she couldnt talk with us becasue she was leaving but would like for us to come back on sunday because her daughter who is 14 isnt a member and she would like for us to teach and baptize her! It makes me extremely happy to know that the area is changing around, and even though i wont be here for the baptisms, its just nice to know that i was maybe a part in helping them change their lives. Well.. i love you all so much, and thank you dad for your advice last week. I took it, and feel a lot better now. Hopefully all is well with the family and i miss you all a ton. Con mucho amor, Elder Smitheram
